Dreams Do Come True
by Agnez Tasic

Being in the wine industry for so many years, Agnez finally flies to Europe and has a wine experience on a whole new level.

In wines, I can say, “dreams do come true!”

In 2017, I had the most amazing experience. It was the best year for me as I got to travel to Europe with our big boss, Madame Tita Trillo, as an incentive for a job well done.

Vinexpo is one of the largest exhibitions for wine and spirit professionals from all over the world, and attending in Bordeaux was definitely a career highlight.

Parc des expositions de Bordeaux was packed. I was surrounded with beautiful wines, prestigious brands, and industry giants. Walking around, visiting booths, tasting wines, talking to people – I do all of this back home but, something about stepping out of my comfort zone made everything much more exciting. I was in Bordeaux – tasting Escudo Rojo – with the person who made it himself, who by the way is also the CEO of one of the biggest names in the world – of course I was excited!

But beyond the enjoyment and being starstruck most times (lol), this experience gave me an even deeper appreciation for the industry that I work in as a whole. Attending the Vinexpo and being around my peers gave me a sense of where I am in the business chain of wines. From the vineyards, to the wineries, and then to me – I bring works of art from all over the world to my country and share them in the Philippine market. It felt good to have that realization that I am part of something bigger. After the 3-day event, I left with a renewed sense of pride and inspiration.

But as if my French experience was not enough, we ended the trip in Italy with a visit to my boss’ long-time friend Martina Piccini. Martina, in the 80s, used to visit the Philippines and held parties all over the metro. A memorable one that I got to attend was Piccini Bikini held at Paparazzi in Edsa Shangri La Hotel. What a beautiful ending to this amazing trip – with business partners who became friends, became family – which is how we do in Titania Wines.
